Become a 12-14 Fitness Trainer
12-14 Fitness is a 10-week programme combining Life Coaching, Nutrition and Exercise. I have specifically designed it to meet the needs of people just like me – or how I was before I got started in my fitness career. Overweight, unfit and had very low self-confidence. Could you imagine just having someone coming to your own home who really understands what it is like to have lost your confidence, to be very overweight and unhealthy and then to help you rebuild your life?
12-14 Fitness has been created with you in mind, I have combined my life coaching skills with my new found love of exercise and my knowledge of nutrition to bring you a programme that really works – it might not be a quick fix diet, but it is a permanent fix from the years of yo-yo dieting. I don’t use any other methods other than to look at what you are eating right now and make suggestions of how you could change to become healthier. I suggest a calorie intake based on your weight and we work things out together – I don’t like the idea of a set diet – because that’s just there to be broken – the result? You feel like a failure and the weight goes up and your confidence goes down – the vicious cycle begins again! I can offer some ideas of how you could choose to eat but I feel that it is better for you to devise a plan that you can follow.
As for exercise, well my motto is “if you sit in a chair – you become chair shaped” whether I have to drag you out for a brief walk or we do something in the house – we will get you moving! The key to finding and maintaining a decent weight is to become more active – this time you create your own exercise/activity programme – this ensures that you can and will be able do it. Starting very simply with walking, then gradually introducing exercises as we go.
With this 10 week programme I will guarantee you will feel better, you will start to move more and you will have decided on a healthy way to eat. You can continue working with me for as long as you like but I always start everyone off on the 10-week programme
As for the sticky issue of “goal weight” you decide – it might mean that you stay slightly in the “overweight” category but if this means the end to years of dieting I think that’s well worth it – it is much better to be only slightly overweight than be a lifelong yo-yo. I have a very realistic approach to what can be achieved and I am here to support you in your goals but I always ensure that they are realistic for example if you wanted to weigh the same as you did on your wedding day 20 years ago and have had a couple of children in between, then I don’t see that as being realistic – unless of course you were a healthy size 14 then!

Become a 12-14 Fitness trainer
I am offering the opportunity for like-minded people to train as 12-14 Fitness Trainers and to enable them to start up their own business – it’s a somewhere in the middle of being a life coach and a personal trainer – A 12-14 Fitness trainer is someone who gets people started on a healthier lifestyle and takes them as far as they want to go.
To become a 12-14 Fitness trainer you must:
- Be a qualified personal trainer
- Have your own professional insurance
- Understand the needs of women wanting to lose weight and be healthy
The training to become a 12-14 Fitness trainer will be fun and informative as well as a great way to help your self-development. There will be 3 training days, 2 on consecutive days and then a follow up day after 6 to 8 weeks – during this time you will be expected to complete a case study on a real person. Assessment will be continuous on the training days – we will learn as we do and we will get a feel for where we are at as we progress
The training will include:
- Building rapport
- Questioning skills
- Values and beliefs
- Body confidence
- The digestive system and how it works
- Basic Nutrition – macro nutrients
- Building an eating plan
- Working with overweight people
- Basic anatomy and physiology
- Building a simple programme
- Exercise with different people
- Health and Safety
Once you have completed this training you will need to attend 2 additional training days per year and there will be some days that clients can also attend – such as body confidence days and work life balance
The 12-14 Fitness programme is pitched between Life Coaching and Personal Training, so I anticipate that you will be able to charge £15.00 to £20.00 per 1:1 session with a cost of £150.00 for the 10 week or 10 session programme. People will quite often need to keep on the programme for more than 10 sessions and you might then offer a discount if they book and pay for the sessions up front.
